FACTOR OF NON-SPHERICITY IN LIGHT SCATTERING OF AN AEROSOL COMPONENT OF ATMOSPHERE

Abstract

Polarization properties of atmospheric aerosols of cylindrical and moderate non-spherical formsare considered in the paper aiming at the complex investigation of the influence of microphysical parameters and the orientation of non-spherical particles on polarization characteristics of the scattered radiation. As a result the methodology for the determination of an angle and degree of the preliminary orientation of extended aerosol particles on the base of the analysis of relations between elements of an inverse scattering matrix has been suggested for the first time. The library of calculation algorithms for the estimation of polarization characteristics of light scattering on polydisperse oriented mixtures of cylindrical and moderate non-spherical particles has been created. The paper results may find their field of application in the information support of lidar systems as basic values at the solution of inverse problems of the remote sounding of atmosphereAvailable from VNTIC / VNTIC - Scientific & Technical Information Centre of RussiaSIGLERURussian Federatio
