The cubiceps of the world ocean (systematic, biology, perspectives of the rade use)

Abstract

The object of investigation: fishes. The purpose of the work: a generalization of all accumulated data on Cubiceps, including the critical evaluation of presentations about the system of kin Cubiceps, determination of the principal laws of the Cubiceps geographycal spreading, studying the biology of the most mass representatives of the kin and determination of the perspectives for their possible trade use. For the first time, 3 species of Cubiceps (C. kotlyari, C. macrolepis, C. nanus) have been described; the volume of the Cubiceps kin and its place in the family of the Nomeidae have been determined; the validity of the Parapsenes kin has been restored; offered have been the new more improved diagnostic characteristics of the number of species of the cubiceps kin; for the first time, the biology of the two most mass species has been studied and the ways of their practical use have been planned. Revealed have been the new limits of areals for the number of species, cardinally changes early presentations about its spreading. For the first time, the effort has been taken up to determine the biomass of the little-ray cubiceps in the East part of the Pasific Ocean.
