Abstract

The aim of the BMFB project 13N6587 was the support of the internationally well recognized Ukrainian research group of Prof. Dr. A.I. Tolmachev. In this project, the Ukrainian scientists synthesized fluorescence dyes and new intrinsic and conjugate fluorescence probes containing macrocyclic ligands with the heteroatoms oxygen, sulfur, and nitrogen as cation specific receptors for analytical applications of time resolved fluorometry. The characterization of the fluorescence and complexation behavior of these compounds was performed in Berlin and led to first design principles for fluorescence probes for heavy and transition metal ions.
