Rooms, rijk of regentesk : elitevorming en machtsverhoudingen in oostelijk Noord-Brabant (circa 1810-1914)

Abstract

The shaping of the elite and the balance of power in Noord-Brabant, 1810-1914. This studies examines the changing composition of financial and political elite and the development of political relations in a Dutch province. Explanations for the relative stability and homogeneity in the decades before 1895 are sought in the relations among this elite. Explanations for the subsequent changes are sought in long-term and short-term, national and regional developments. The analyses are based on a social network approach, prosopography, the analysis of social capital and the political proces in the selected period
