"Não há coincidências"? Women's writing in Portugal in 1974 and 2004

Abstract

This paper analyses the highly successful 'literatura light' published by Portuguese women in the early twenty-first century and considers the issues it deals with and the society it presents in contrast with the revolutionary literature of the 1970s. After a brief look at the development of women's writing since the 1974 Revolution, the study goes on to consider some of the common traits of 'literatura light' and the way it has been received by the critics (critically) and the public (enthusiastically)
