Najmuddin al-Kubra, Jumadil Kubra and Jamaluddin al-Akbar: Traces of Kubrawiyya influence in early Indonesian Islam

Abstract

The Javanese Sajarah Banten ranté-ranté (SBR) and its Malay translation\ud Hikayat Hasanuddin, compiled in the late seventeenth or early eighteenth\ud century but incorporating much older material, consist of a number of\ud disparate narratives, one of which relates the alleged studies of Sunan\ud Gunung Jati in Mecca. A very similar account, though less detailed, is\ud contained in the Brandes-Rinkes recension of the Babad Cirebon
