Quantitative Performance Analysis of Biometrics Identification for Authentication Systems Design

By Maeda Takuji, Matsushita Masahito and Sasakawa Koichi

Abstract:- On constructing a biometrics identification system, a study must be performed as to whether estimated system performance satisfies target performance in matching accuracy and response speed. A model is therefore needed to describe the performance of such an authentication system. This paper describes a model for quantitative performance analysis of a biometrics identification system considering its characteristics. It is clarified the performance difference for different identification algorithms by applying this model to our identification algorithm and a general linear search algorithm. And also, a systems design example is shown using above model. Key-Words:- biometrics, identification system, person authentication, quantitative analysis, performance model, systems design
