The Magrath Zeniths have just hosted their 23rd Annual High School
Basketball Invitational Tournament, November 29 &, 30, 1991 with the
W R Meyers (Taber) Rebels taking the Championship game 73-63 over
the host Zeniths. Third place went to Catholic Central (Lethbridge)
Cougars with Winston Churchill (Lethbridge) Bulldogs taking home the
Consolation trophy.
Saturday night's Championship game saw Mark Tollestrup contribute
23 points, Danny Balderson 15 and Bart Harris 10 for the Zeniths.
Darnell Platt 26 points, Randy Oliver 12 and Jared Bly 11 for the
Rebels.
Named Most Outstanding Player was the Rebel's Darnell Platt.
Trophies:
Championship to W R Meyers Rebels donated by the Town of Magrath and
presented by Deputy Mayor Robert Tanner.
Second to the Magrath Zeniths donated by Tanco and presented by
L. B. Tanner.
Third to Catholic Central Cougars donated by the Magrath Clinic and
presented by Dr. Claire Norton.
Consolation to Winston Churchill Bulldogs donated by the Magrath
Co-Op and presented by Randy Ripley.
Receiving the Sportsmanship Trophy was Catholic Central Cougars donated
by the Magrath Trading Co. and presented by Wes Balderson.
Winners of the Cheerleading Competition held in conjunction with the
Tournament were our own Magrath Cheerleaders who were presented a
trophy, donated by the Magrath School, by Mrs. Beres. Individual
trophies also donated by the School were presented by Trevor Lowry
Student Body President.
Winner of the Zenith (500) Pot of Gold Raffle sponsored by the
Magrath Alumni Association Society was JR Gruninger of Del Bonita.
Thank you to all who supported this event and Congratulations to all
those who participated.

November 22 &. 23. The team did very very well coming in second place in a 6 team

the team played Picture Butte wining 9-5- Scoring was Justin Harker 5g0a; Darren

A lovey LDS wedding for Traci and Bart
was solomized at the Cardston Temple on
November 23, 1991. Both families and
friends attended making the day very
special. A reception was held in their
honor at the Seniors Centre from 6-8 pm
with close family friends looking after the
kitchen and serving refreshments. A
wonderful family dinner was served at noon
by the DUP who did a great job. Many
thanks to everyone who helped in any way.

Del Bonita 4-H Club News: On
November 9th, the Del Bonita 4-H
Club had their Weigh-in & Monthly
Meeting at Jim and Terri Newton's
place. After we finished our Weighin,
we enjoyed a wonderful meal
of sloppy-joes provided by the
lunch committee. Then we had our
monthly meeting. It was decided
that we are to have all of our
monthly meetings on the first
Wednesday of each month. We also
decided to have a Christmas
skating party at Leonard Morton's
place on December 21st at 3:00 pm.

The Magrath Rod and Gun Club will be holding it's annual
jWjTurkey Shoot from December 2 to December 21 (closed Sundays),
■¿lyiThe Bingo's will be held on December 2nd, 9th and 16th which are
Monday evenings from 7 pm. There will be 20 games each night
and a turkey prize for each game. Please make an effort to attend
and support a local organization.
The next meeting of the Rod and Gun Club is on Wednesday,
December 18th, at 7:30 pm in the club house. We will be holding
elections at this time so please plan on attending.

relying on the Salvation Army for food baskets, clothing and
toys. It is a relief to see that when times are tough there are

The annual meeting of the Magrath and
District Agricultural Society will be held
January 6, 1992. There are many activities
the Agricultural Society are looking
forward to in the coming year. Some of them
include Trail Riding, Dressage Lessons,
Gymkana, Saddle Club, Fair and Rodeo.
Anyone interested in any of these activities
or anyone having ideas as to what new areas
the Agricultural Society should be involved

away on Sunday, November 24, 1991 at the age
of 35 years.
Darwin is survived by his parents, Kay and
