In this paper the authors investigate the capability of finite element methods to correctly reproduce the stability range of finite strain problems in the incompressible regime. In particular, the authors exhibit an example for which the stability range can be accurately computed (using a stream function formulation and a NURBS-based approximation), but for which mixed finite element methods fail to identify the right stability range (the approximated stability range is strictly included in the true stability range)
