Abstract

“It is mid-winter – there are three meters of snow on the high passes, there are wolves, and this is a war. You will die, I can guarantee.” Mr. Stewart escaped this fate and returned to write a remarkable book about his experiences – “The Places In Between.” Like the IDRC, Mr. Stewart believes that development is driven by people within their communities.
