[EN]The analysis of temperature extremes, its duration, intensity and evolution, is an aspect of
particular importance in addressing climate. Certainly, they are an indicator of climate change
and manifest implications for bio-physical environment, population and the activities it
performs. Therefore, this work focuses on the evolutionary study of heat waves in Spain,
using the criteria established by the working group in extreme indices CCI/CLIVAR, for
different geographical areas. The obtained results demonstrated an increase in the number of
episodes, its intensity and length, being the most intense episode of 2003 one of the most
important recorded in Spain during period considered.
