Abstract

Nowadays, the deregulations of firing attract much more attention, in Japan. The effects of these deregulations are frequently discussed in the view of firms ’ employment decisions. This paper focuses attention on another effect of deregulations using bargaining models with adjustment costs. We show that, regardless of the deregulation increases a long-run employment level, the welfare of workers is worse off. We also show that the deregulation yields a lot of short-term workers whose wage are unstable to business cycle. 1
