THE GREAT DEPRESSION Is There A Theory behind it? Examiners:

By Mrs Barbara Wodara, Mr John Nuttall, Summer Semester and Björn Hermes

Abstract

This paper analyses the Great Depression under two different aspects: Historical events prior to 1929 and theoretical models. After explaining the complete chain of events and their interrelation, the theories of the Spending Hypothesis and the Money Hypothesis are introduced. Finally, both models are tested on inconsistencies and an economic lecture is drawn out of the Great depression
