Abstract

The LEXIS ®-NEXIS ® services offer an unparalleled range of information to support your practice or business needs. U.S. patent information is available with updates to reflect status and ownership changes. Official copies of registrations or other file information can be ordered. Legal sources include a full range of U.S. legal and administrative materials, including BNA’s United States Patents Quarterly, SHEPARD’S ® Citations Service, and leading treatises such as Chisum on Patents. Other key sources include a broad range of prior art files. All of these products offer tremendous search capabilities and are searchable using a consistent set of commands and techniques. LEXIS-NEXIS offers secure access and confidentiality of your searching. U.S. PATENTS COVERAGE There are currently over 2.5 million U.S. patents and 6 million pages of drawing sheets available online. This information is updated weekly with information received directly from the USPTO. Besides being available in full text, the patents on the LEXIS-NEXIS services are enhanced to include all of the changes that can occur during the life of a patent. These changes are incorporated directly into the text of the relevant patent. U.S. PATENTS UPDATE SCHEDULE Approximately 2,000 new patents are issued by the USPTO each Tuesday and are added to the LEXIS-NEXIS services the same day. Status changes occurring after a patent is issued are generally added to the text of the affected patent within three days of receipt of the information from the PTO.
