ACCESSING MULTIMEDIA SERVICES IN INDUSTRIAL NETWORKS THROUGH INTERNET

Abstract

As new technologies for Internet access evolve, many new services arise as well, promising to fully exploit the capabilities of future access networks. This paper focuses on Internet as an access medium to industrial networks, in the framework of teleworking. An interconnection structure between Internet and manufacturing networks is described, giving special attention to multimedia services and specifically video transmission. These advanced services will thoroughly benefit from improvements in Internet protocols like broadband technologies and bandwidth reservation
