Integration of open source tools in Virtual Interpreter/Compiler for C and C++

Abstract

Abstract: This paper presents the benefits of implementing open source software in developing applications. It analysis the procedures used for adapting open source tools to the requirements of an web application, Vi/3C – Virtual Interpreter/Compiler for C and C++, an on-line virtual C/C++ compiler and collaborative debugging tool. After presenting the capabilities of the integrated open source instruments, and their particularized implementation to this application, Vi/3C is compared with other cloud applications that present similar features. The open source tools used in the developing and testing process are both with CLI – command line interface, and GUI – graphical user interface. In conclusion, there are presented the performance and other benefits gained by implementing this open source tools
