Abstract

ABSTRACT: The hazard analysis for the Vrancea subcrustal earthquakes in Carpathian Mountains, Romania, include relationships for the recurrence of magnitude and directional attenuation functions for the ground acceleration. Sensivity of results to the maximum credible magnitude of the source and to the maximum recorded ground acceleration is discussed. 1 Recurrence- magnitude relationships The major contribution to seismic hazard in Romania comes from Vrancea seismogenic zone, located where the Carpathian Mountains arc bends.
