Abstract. Some of the problems arising in general relativistic constitutive theory can be solved by using the Riemann-Cartan geometry, a generalization of the Riemann geometry containing torsion. As an example the ideal spinning fluid (Weyssenhoff fluid) is discussed and different results for Einstein and Einstein-Cartan theories are compared. 1
