Abstract

The VUV-FEL facility at DESY-Hamburg, currently operating at 32 nm, wavelength makes the warm dense matter (WDM) regime of electron densities up to solid densities and a few eV electron temperature accessible for a Thomson scattering experiment using coherent radiation. Bremsstrahlung is the main source of radiation background. Demanding the Thomson scattering power density [1] d 3 PTh(λ) dV dλ d
