Using OPNET for Modeling of Non-Communications Emitters in an Air Defense Environment J. R. Marks, K. L. Selvidge

The Georgia Tech Research Institute is developing a set of Information Operations (IO) analysis tools for the Air Force Information Warfare Center, which will provide AFIWC with the capability to dynamically model electronic warfare emitters and receivers. The first phase concentrates on radar emitters, although communications emitters are of interest for the future. OPNET was chosen to provide the modeling environment because of its flexible setup of networks, its probe capabilities, and because of its capabilities for modeling communications networks. This paper will discuss the adaptations that were necessary to model these non-communications systems under OPNET and off-line tools that were developed to build networks using EMA
