Pacific Islander Market and the Entertainment Industry, an examination of the current trends of Asian Pacific Islander (API) consumers of film, television and new media. The entertainment products they consume are ones in which our members have contributed and continue to contribute in profound, professional and profitable ways. SAG historically and consistently has strived for equity and diversity within our union and the industry at large. With APIs representing one of the fastest growing populations in this country, it is a group who will undoubtedly have an immense impact on how entertainment media is both produced and consumed. Therefore, it is both ethically and fiscally imperative that the entertainment industry take a very serious look at this study and be prepared to act upon its findings and recommendations. To that end, I urge producers, directors, writers, casting directors, all other industry professionals and the creative community in general to help develop and ensure a more diverse and accurate media landscape that speaks to the everchanging demographics of our society.
