We are currently conducting the Northwestern Juvenile Project, the first large-scale longitudinal study of mental health needs and outcomes of juvenile detainees. We are studying 1829 youth (657 girls and 1172 boys) randomly sampled as they entered Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center in Chicago, from 1995 to 1998.
