The Role of Soft Computing in Intelligent Data Analysis

Abstract

The analysis of large amounts of data becomes an ever more important issue in science and business. Users, typcially domain experts, are faced with a huge challenge and require support. In this paper we look how data analysis can be intelligently supported and how soft computing methods can help. As examples, we look at some visualization concepts, approximate matching in frequent pattern mining as a technical example, and some industrial applications concerned with complex analytical scenarios and aspects of automating analytics
