Soft Systems Methodology An Application to a Community Based Association

Abstract

The research question addressed in this paper is: How does systems theory apply to problem solving in a community-based voluntary organization? The unit of analysis is a regional art museum (RAM). The methodology employed is Soft Systems Methodology (SSM). Following a brief review of its basic principles, SSM is applied to the RAM. It is important to note that this study is still in process. Soft Systems Methodology Within systems thinking there are two complementary traditions (i.e., “hard ” and “soft” systems).
