Human Friendly CAPTCHAs: Simple Games

By Deapesh Misra

Abstract

The need to detect web bots pretending to be human on the internet is growing. This led to the development of tests called CAPTCHAs, which try to detect the presence of a human user. A majority of CAPTCHAs and particularly those which have been employed currently are keyboard and English character based. We propose a novel scheme in which the CAPTCHA test is a simple game which the user has to play successfully in order to pass the test. Playing interactive games is easy and considered fun by human users while is tough for programs to complete successfully. 1
