We show that the ILU system can be used to efficiently connect different algebra systems. The communication and conversion times in our examples were a small fraction of the total calculation times of the server functions if we used all optimizations that were readily available as standard features of a CORBA object broker. The results were obtained within a Gröbner bases system that was built on the CANNES system and included calls to functions of the SACLIB. The SACLIB functions were integral polynomial quotients and greatest common divisors and were of a relatively fine granularity (some milliseconds of execution time)
