Novel electronics for MCP imaging detectors

Abstract

We describe novel electronics for processing signals from a microchannel plate detector using a resistive anode\ud readout. High sampling-rate (MHz) Analogue-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) coupled to a Digital Signal Processor\ud (DSP) combine to offer high spatial resolution 70 micrometre low noise <0.1 count cm^-1 s^-1 imaging over a large 93 mm x\ud 93 mm imaging area.\ud These new low-cost electronics form an integral part of a MCP-based system for digital autoradiography designed to\ud image radiolabelled thin tissue slices and 1- and 2-D electrophoresis gels
