O sistemismo de Bunge: fundamentos, abordagem metodológica e aplicação a sistemas de informação

Abstract

Large, complex information systems are often seen in a fragmented, partial way, even by its protagonists. This paper presents the systemism of Mario Bunge, a systemic approach, as a theoretical and methodological framework for the design and study of information systems. The article contrasts the individualist worldview, characteristic of analytical science, with the holism that underlies the "systemic" approaches prior to Bunge's. Systemism is introduced as an approach that denies and, at the same time, conjugates individualism and holism. The postulates of systemism are presented, together with its system model and general methodological rules for approaching the design and study of systems - especially information systems. An application of this approach to Plataforma Lattes is offered as illustration. The approach is aimed as a methodological guide for those interested in information systems research with a systemic view. Additionally, it outlines some research problems about the mechanisms of growth and maintenance of Plataforma Lattes
