Abstract

The present article is a comparative analysis of "Das Parfum" by Patrick Süskind and "Peter Schlemihls wundersame Geschichte" by Adalbert von Chamisso. The analysis applies Walter Benjamin 's concepts of experience and event to the deep structure of the narratives and the characters and confronts the issue of identity of the modern hero, who is unable to undergo any kind of experience, with the loss of sense that the individual suffers from as a result of the disenchantment of the world.O presente artigo e uma análise comparativa de "Das Parfum" de Patrick Süskind e "Peter Schlemihls wundersame Geschichte" de Adalbert von Chamisso. A análise aplica os conceitos de experiencia e evento da Walter Benjamin à estrutura profunda das narrativas e dos caracteres e confronta a temátiea da identidade do herói moderno sem nenhuma experiência com a perda de sentido que o indivíduo sofre em função do desencantamento do mundo
