While this task has much\ud in common with paraphrases acquisition\ud which aims to discover semantic equivalence\ud between verbs, the main challenge\ud of entailment acquisition is to capture\ud asymmetric, or directional, relations. Motivated\ud by the intuition that it often underlies\ud the local structure of coherent text, we\ud develop a method that discovers verb entailment\ud using evidence about discourse\ud relations between clauses available in a\ud parsed corpus. In comparison with earlier\ud work, the proposed method covers a much\ud wider range of verb entailment types and\ud learns the mapping between verbs with\ud highly varied argument structures
