Abstract

Mark McKenna was quoted in the USA Today article Apple-Samsung legal outcome won\u27t likely end feud on May 5. For its part, Apple \u22clearly thought it would get more out of its patents,\u22 says University of Notre Dame law professor Mark McKenna, who specializes in intellectual property, trademark, patent and copyright law. And Samsung \u22fared much better than they might have, if you think what they potentially were on the hook for,\u22 he says. \u22But it\u27s hard to call anyone a winner who has to spend the kind of money they spent litigating a case and then get ordered to pay $120 million in damages.\u22 What Samsung may have succeeded at is convincing, this jury at least, that \u22Apple\u27s beef here really is with Google,\u22 McKenna says. \u22I think they really feel like they have advanced the ball a little bit there.\u2
