In chapter 1 an overview of the content of the thesis is given. In chapter 2 current data on telomerase in gynecological tumours, especially cervical and ovarian tumours, are reviewed. In more than 85% of gynecological malignant tumours unique overexpression of telomerase activity has been found, while benign tumours and normal tissues do not display or only weakly express telomerase activity ...
