One aim of this study was to obtain more insight into the distribution of the various underlying diseases and the symptomatology patients with acute abdominal pain in Deventer. Since an extensive study in Leeds had demonstrated that the uncertainty regarding the diagnosis of the cause of an acute abdomen could be decreased by using a computer, the second aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic results before and after introduction of a computer-aided diagnostic system. ...
