Creating the Fittest

By Camilla Ayelet Reghev and Maja Langballe Jeppesen

Abstract

Based on the debate between Peter Sloterdijk and Jürgen Habermas, our main focus has been on how human dignity and mans position in relation to nature, would be effected by gene technology applied to human beings. We found that gene technology covers both gene-therapy and -manipulation, and that they should be addressed separatly as they merit different ethical challenges. We also found that gene technology will continue to effect human life, and thus it is essential to continue debating the issue, in order to arrive at some form of codex or regulations for its use
