A NEW APPROACH TO WINDING DISPLACEMENT DETECTION OF POWER TRANSFORMER USING FRA METHOD AND ELECTRICAL FORCES DISTRIBUTION

Abstract

Electrical forces during Short circuit or impulse lighting can cause mechanical displacements of transformer windings. The electrical forces distribution on transformer winding is used as a helpful tool for FRA method to a better and faster detection of exact location of winding displacement. In order to be able to evaluate the measurements, the correlation between the characteristics of transfer functions and possible damages must be known. The detailed mathematical models were developed for the test objects and a comparison was carried out between different results. It is shown that this method can detect the exact location of deformation in transformer windings. I
