Some concepts on informational literacy are presented. The criteria of different authors on the subject are exposed. Comments are made on the main statements in favour of a society educated in information. The main models and standards for informational literacy proposed in Cuba and in the world are shown. Finally, some considerations on the development of informational literacy programs are made
