Abstract

In researching the topic of my presentation it was my task to determine if the SACO Program component of the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) could be related to subject gateways or if it might be considered a subject gateway in its own right. SACO is described as the subject component of the Program for Cooperative Cataloging. Within the PCC framework it is SACO that allows catalogers to submit subject heading proposals for possible inclusion in the list of Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) and allows for the modification of existing subject headings and/or modification of the existing subject heading hierarchy
