Abstract

Key Messages\ud • Soil acidity, water repellence and root disease have been shown to reduce crop access to soil P and where these constraints are present yield responses to fertiliser P have occurred even where soil test P levels are classed as sufficient. \ud • Assessment of root and soil constraints to soil P availability needs to be integral to the P fertiliser recommendation process
