By ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΣ ΚΟΥΛΟΥΡΑΣ

Abstract

THIS STUDY WAS DESIGNED TO EVALUATE THE "PHYSIOLOGICAL" LORTAT-JACOB-CASSIOUMISANTIREFLUX PROCEDURE CONCERNING THE THERAPY AS WELL AS THE PREVENTION OF GASTROESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE. THIRTY EIGHT PATIENTS WHO FULFIL THE CRITERIA FOR SURGICAL THERAPY WERE ENTRY IN THIS STUDY. ALL THESE PATIENTS UNDERWENT A MODIFIED LORTAT-JACOB-CASSIOUMIS PROCEDURE. THE EVALUATION WAS BASED MAINLY ON THE 24-HOUR ABULATORY PHMONITORING. FURTHERMORE PATIENTS WERE ASSESED WITH CLINICAL SCORE OF SYMPTOMS, RADIOGRAPHIC EXAMINATION, AND ENDOSCOPY. THE RESULTS OF THIS STUDY SUGGEST THAT THE ANTI-REFLUX LORTAT-JACOB-CASSIOUMIS OPERATION IS AN EFFECTIVE TREATMENT OF THE GORD FOR 92% OF PATIENTS.
