Abstract

WITH A COMPLEX METHOD, DESORPTION OF HYDROCARBONS IN SOIL SAMPLES - GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY, WAS MADE POSSIBLE TO LOCATE TRACES OF HYDROCARBONS IN SOILS, WHICH CAN BE CONSIDERED AS CONNECTED TO HYDROCARBON DEPOSITS OR OTHER SOURCES LIKE OIL LEAKAGES FROM UNDERGROUND FUEL TRANSPORTING INSTALLATIONS. THE METHOD CAN BEUSED FOR MONITORING HYDROCARBON CONCENTRATIONS IN SOILS SURROUNDING OIL REFINERIES FOR EXAMPLE AND TO WARN US AGAINST A FORTHCOMING ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTER.
