Some applications of chaos in power converters

By David C. Hamill, Jonathan H. B. Deane and Philip J. Aston

Abstract

<p>Applications are beginning to be found for chaotic power converters. Using the peak current controlled boost converter as an example throughout, the paper reviews the theory of chaos, shows how it may be employed to improve the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of power supplies, and presents a targeting scheme that can make a chaotic converter jump rapidly between two stabilised modes of operation. </p
