The Firefighters Pension Scheme (Consequential Provisions) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016 - Consultation Response Report
The Department ran a targeted consultation from 30 November to 18 December 2015 on draft regulations entitled the Firefighters’ Pension Scheme (Consequential Provisions) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015. The purpose of these draft regulations is to introduce a consequential amendment resulting from the abolition of “contracting–out” from 6 April 2016. The Consultation Response Report is now available

National Drugs Strategy 2009-2016 Progress Report 2015

Drugs misuse continues to be one of the most significant challenges facing our country. It is highly destructive and has devastating effects on individuals, relationships, families, communities and society in general.
Implementation of the National Drugs Strategy 2009-2016, which sets out Government policy in dealing with the drugs problem, is being pursued across a range of Government Departments and Agencies. Solid progress is being made across the 63 Actions of the Strategy, which are based around the five pillars of supply reduction, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and research.
The Oversight Forum on Drugs meets on a quarterly basis and reviews the implementation of the Strategy. The Forum is chaired by the Minister with responsibility for the National Drugs Strategy.

The Department of Health has published a report entitled - An assessment of the economic cost of smoking in Ireland. The study was carried out for the Department of Health by ICF International. The purpose of this study is to contribute to the evidence base of tobacco consumption and its effects in Ireland, to help support the implementation of the recommendations made in The Tobacco Free Ireland report (2013)
