    Development of RQANI Learning Modules to Improve Students' Understanding of concepts Class XI Science at SMA Negeri 6 Ternate City

    RQANI (Reading, Questioning, Answering, Elaboration, and Integration) is a learning model that integrates science and Islamic values. Utilizing modules in the learning process can provide learning opportunities for students to be more independent and motivated to master concepts. The research objectives were to identify (1) the validity of the RQANI module on body defense system material for class XI IPA students at SMA Negeri 6 Ternate City and (2) the effectiveness of the RQANI learning module in increasing students' understanding of concepts in class XI Science at SMA Negeri 6 Ternate City. This research is development research that refers to 4-D development design. The trial was carried out on a limited scale on class XI Science students at SMA Negeri 6 Ternate City. The instruments used in collecting research data consisted of validation sheets for research modules and instruments, response questionnaires, and essay tests to measure understanding of concepts. The research results showed (1) the validity of the RQANI-based learning module on body defense system material by the first validator in the very valid category (90.41) and the second validator in the valid category (79.16); (2) RQANI-based learning modules are effective in increasing concept understanding with 38.46% of students obtaining N-Gain at high criteria; and 38.46% of students gave very good responses and 53.84% of students gave good responses to the RQANI module.     Implementation of the POGIL Model Combined with a Digital Mind Map Based on Online Learning to Improve Creative Thinking Skills and Student Cognitive Learning Outcomes at SMAN 2 Malang

    Education in 21st Century has supported use of the 2013 Curriculum which demands skills, one of which is creative thinking skills. This skill demand is inversely proportional to the real conditions in class XI MIPA 3 SMAN 2 Malang. Initially, creative thinking skills showed an average of 50.20%, indicated that student still had difficulty writing many different answers and were not equipped with details, used the language of books and the internet, did not see problems from various directions. Low cognitive learning outcomes are proven by the 2020/2021 odd semester exam scores with 41.39% of students getting scores below the KKM. Teachers have difficulty implementing learning models during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research aims to improve creative thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes using the POGIL model combined with a digital mind map based on online learning. The research aims to improve students’ creative thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes using POGIL model combined digital mind map based on online learning. The method uses Classroom Action Research with Kemmis Mc Taggart design. Collecting data through creative thinking questions from UKBM, digital mind map, and pretest-posttest. The results of the cycle I and cycle II showed an increase in creative thinking skills from 78.37 to 86.26 (UKBM) and 83.74 to 91.50 (digital mind map), the average class cognitive learning outcomes from 78.90 to 80.29, and classical cognitive completeness by 80.65% to 87.10%.     Promoting College Student’s Twenty-First Century Skills through a STEM Learning Project

    There is a need to prepare college students with non-cognitive or 21st Century skills to prepare them for successful college and future careers. As the number of applied STEM in Indonesian education increases, research is needed to understand how STEM learning projects promote student 21st Century skills. This study used a case study and mixed-methods conversion design to convert qualitative data into quantitative data by applying pre-established rubrics. This study provides evidence that STEM learning projects are beneficial to promote students' 21st Century skills, which are: (a) knowledge construction, (b) real-world problem solving, (c) skilled communication, (d) collaboration, and (e) self-regulation. The result shows that students demonstrate the highest grade on collaboration and the lowest on knowledge construction. Although most of the student work introduced multiple 21st Century skills and the overall scores were satisfactory, student knowledge construction still needs improvement. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jbt.v11.i1.2704

    Persepsi Siswa Terhadap Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran Daring Pada Mata Pelajaran IPA Biologi Selama Masa Pandemi Covid-19 Kelas VIII Di SMPN 9 Pekanbaru

    This study aims to determine student`s perceptions of the implementation of online learning in the Biology Science subject during the Covid-19 pandemic for class VIII at SMPN 9 Pekanbaru. This research is quantitative research. The method used in this study is a survey method. Data collection was carried out by means of observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The sample in this study were 160 students. Based on the results of the study, students’ perceptions of the implementation of online learning in Biology Science subject during the Covid-19 pandemic for class VIII at SMPN 9 Pekanbaru obtained an average score of 80.76% in the good category. The highest sub-indicator, namely opening learning, obtained a percentage of 92.41% in the very good category. Meanwhile, the lowest sub-indicator is giving conclusions with a percentage of 67.34%.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa terhadap pelaksanaan pembelajaran daring pada mata pelajaran IPA Biologi selama masa pendemi covid-19 kelas VIII di SMPN 9 Pekanbaru. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode survey. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, wawancara, dan angket. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 160 siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat dilihat bahwa persepsi siswa terhadap pelaksanaan pembelajaran daring pada mata pelajaran IPA Biologi selama masa pendemi covid-19 kelas VIII di SMPN 9 Pekanbaru memperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 80,76% berada dalam kategori baik. Pada sub indikator tertinggi yaitu membuka pembelajaran memperoleh persentase sebesar 92,41% berada dalam kategori sangat baik.     The Utilization Ethnobotany Spice Based On Sundanese Local Wisdom Community in Kelurahan Gununggede Subdistrict Kawalu Tasikmalaya City As Teaching Materials Supplement

    The purpose of this study is to describe an ethnobotanical study of the use of spices based on local wisdom in the Sundanese people in Gununggede Village, Kawalu District, Tasikmalaya City. This research method was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner with semi-structured observation and interview techniques. The selection of respondents using purposive snowball sampling method and obtained the number of respondents as many as 20. The results showed 31 types of plants belonging to 17 families. Zingiberaceae is the most common family with 6 species. The results of the analysis use the cultural significance index (ICS). The results showed that the highest ICS value was 30 for shallots (Allium cepa) and garlic (Allium sativum) and the lowest 9 for chili bendol (Capsicum chinense) and vegetable starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi). The results of this study can be concluded that plant species with high ICS values are the species most frequently used and their function cannot be changed in cooking dishes. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jbt.v11.i1.2717

    Keterampilan Kolaborasi Dan Self-Regulated Learning Peserta Didik: Sebuah Implementasi Model Creative Problem Solving

    The 21st century is characterized by different fundamental changes. This study aims to determine the influence of creative problem-solving models to improve collaboration skills and self-regulated learning of students on environmental change material. The method used is Quasi-experimental. The research design used in this study was the matching-only posttest-only control group design. The population in this study, namely the entire class X mipa, was 186 students. The sample was taken in the form of purposive sampling of 65 students. Data collection was carried out by providing 16 self-regulated learning statements and 15 collaboration skills questionnaire statements. The data analysis technique used is the ANCOVA test. The results showed that the creative problem-solving model had a significant effect (sig = 0.000) on the collaboration and self-regulated learning skills of students on environmental change material. Judging from the average score, the collaboration skills and self-regulated learning of the experimental class are superior compared to the control class. Abad ke-21 ditandai dengan perubahan-perubahan fundamental yang berbeda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model creative problem solving untuk meningkatkan keterampilan kolaborasi dan self-regulated learning peserta didik materi perubahan lingkungan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu kuasi eksperimen. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yakni the matching-only posttest-only control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu seluruh kelas X MIPA sebanyak 186 peserta didik. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah non-probability berupa purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan memberikan 16 pernyataan self-regulated learning dan 15 pernyataan angket keterampilan kolaborasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji ANCOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukan model creative problem solving berpengaruh signifikan (sig=0,000) terhadap keterampilan kolaborasi dan self-regulated learning peserta didik materi perubahan lingkungan. Dilihat dari perolehan skor rata-rata keterampilan kolaborasi dan self-regulated learning kelas eksperimen lebih unggul dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol.Kata kunci: creative problem solving, kolaborasi, self regulated learning DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jbt.v10.i3.2579

    Investigation of Biology Students' Cognitive Structure Ability Regarding the Central Dogma of Molecular Biology

    The purpose of this study was to improve biology learning outcomes in genetic material for class XII-MIPA 8 students of SMAN 1 Tasikmalaya in the 2022/2023 academic year. The model is the media image. The subjects of this classroom action research were class XII.MIPA 8 students of SMAN 1 Tasikmalaya. The number of students is 35 people, 14 boys and 21 girls. This classroom behavior study was conducted in the 2022-2023 school year. This classroom action research was conducted for three months in odd semesters starting from October to December 2022. The research methodology for this classroom action research was carried out in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The research process consisted of Preliminary Research, Cycle 1 Planning, Cycle 1 Action Implementation, Cycle 1 Observation, Cycle 1 Reflection, Cycle 2 Planning, Cycle 2 Action Implementation, Cycle 2 Observation, and Cycle 2 Consists of reflection. The data collection technique is to collect test scores using tests (written tests) given at the end of each lesson in each cycle. Observational data is made by observing student activities during the learning process. Data analysis was performed using percentage statistics. The results showed that the students' learning outcomes increased from 40 before learning to 70 in cycle 1 and 85 in cycle 2. Student learning activities increased from the category of 'Enough' to 'Good' and from 'Good' to 'Very Good'. The application of media images can increase the activity and learning outcomes of biology in the genetic material for class XII.MIPA 8 SMAN 1 Tasikmalaya Academic Year 2022/2023. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jbt.v11.i1.2712

    Implementation of the Project Based Learning (PJBL) to Increase Students Learning Interest and Learning Outcomes in Biotechnology Concept

    The success of learning can be influenced by various factors including students learning interests. However, there are still many students who have a low interest in learning, and the interest in learning that is owned by students can affect the learning outcomes of students during the learning process. This study aims to determine the increase in learning interest and student learning outcomes in biotechnology material. The research method used is the class action research method (CAR). The subjects in this study were all students in class IX B of junior high school 1 Baregbeg totalling 35 people with details on 17 boys and 18 girls. The data analysis technique used in quantitative descriptive research allowed the data obtained from the results of the research to be processed with the help of Microsoft Excel 2016 to find out the proportions of student interest in learning, the proportion of interest in learning each cycle, and the proportion of completeness of student learning outcomes on the cognitive aspect. Based on the results of the research it shows that the Project Based Learning (PJBL) model can increase student interest in learning and learning outcomes of students in biotechnology concept with an interest in learning in cycle I obtaining a proportion of 67% and in cycle II of 77%. Then the learning outcomes of students in cycle I were 49% mastery and in cycle II they increased to 91%. So with the proportion that has increased in cycle II the Project Based Learning (PJBL) model is very effective to be applied in the learning process as an effort to increase interest in learning and student learning outcomes in biotechnology concept in class IX. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jbt.v11.i1.2724

    Pertumbuhan Vegetatif Eksplan Kentang (Solanum Tuberosum L.) Kultivar Atlantik pada Medium Murashige and Skoog dengan Penambahan Ekstrak Tomat (Solanum Lycopersicum L.) Secara In Vitro

    This  research  was  to  find  out  the  growth  of  potato  explant (Solanum tuberosum L.) atlantic cultivar after giving concentrations of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) extract and to find out the optimum concentrations of tomato extract for the  growth  of  potato  (Solanum  tuberosum  L.)  explant  Atlantic  cultivar  in  vitro.  This research uses a completely randomized design with a single factor, with 5 concentrations levels : 0%,2%,4%,6%,8%. Each treatment was repeated 5 times. Data obtained then in Levene test, then carried analysis of varience test at the 5% real level. The result of this research  indicate  that  giving  tomato  extract  to  vegetative  growth  of  potato  had  not significant of height, the amount of leaves, and the amount of shoots. Keywords: growth, in vitro, Solanum tuberosum L., Tomato extract Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak tomat (Solanum lycopersicum L.) terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif eksplan kentang (Solanum tuberosum L.) kultivar Atlantik secara in vitro. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2018 sampai bulan Desember 2018 di Laboratorium Botani (ruang penelitian in vitro), Jurusan Biologi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Lampung menggunakan pola dasar Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 1 faktor yaitu ekstrak tomat dengan lima taraf konsentrasi, yaitu 0% v/v, 2 % v/v, 4% v/v , 6% v/v, 8% v/v. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan 5 ulangan sehingga total botol yang digunakan berjumlah 25 botol. Parameter yang diamati pada penelitian ini yaitu tinggi planlet, jumlah daun dan jumlah tunas. Data yang diperoleh di homogenkan menggunakan uji Levene, kemudian dilanjutkan uji ANARA pada taraf nyata 5%, jika signifikan maka dilakukan uji Lanjut pada BNT taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ekstrak tomat tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun dan jumlah tunas. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jbt.v10.i3.2496

    Analisis Kesulitan Pembelajaran Biologi Pada Masa Pandemi Covid-19 Secara Daring Pada Materi Sistem Ekskresi di SMAN 2 Pekanbaru

    This research is descriptive research using a quantitative approach that aims to determine the level of difficulty of learning biology during the Covid-19 pandemic online. The data collection techniques used are observation, questionnaire, interview, and documentation. The population in this study was 100 students from class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 2 which was taken based on proportionate stratified random sampling. Based on the results of the study, it shows that students of high-level academic students have difficulty learning biology in the excretion system material with a high level of learning difficulty of 82.38%. Moderate-level academic students have difficulty learning the material biology of the excretory system with a high level of learning difficulty of 75.12%. And low-level academic students have difficulty learning the material biology of the excretory system with a moderate learning difficulty of 62.04%. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yang dilaksanakan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kesulitan pembelajaran biologi masa pandemi Covid-19. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, angket, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 100 siswa dari kelas XI MIPA SMA Negeri 2 yang diambil berdasarkan propotionate startified random sampling. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa akademik tingkat tinggi memiliki kesulitan pembelajaran biologi materi sistem ekskresi dengan tingkat kesulitan pembelajaran yang tinggi sebesar 82,38%. Siswa akademik tingkat sedang memiliki kesulitan pembelajaran biologi materi sistem ekskresi dengan tingkat kesulitan pembelajaran yang tinggi sebesar 75,12%. Dan siswa akademik tingkat rendah memiliki kesulitan pembelajaran biologi materi sistem ekskresi dengan tingkat kesulitan pembelajaran yang sedang sebesar 62,04%. Kata kunci: daring, kesulitan belajar, sistem ekskresi DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jbt.v10.i3.2629
