A sokarcú oxitocin: a reprodukciótól a türelemig
The aim of this study is to provide an overview of what we know today about the production and function of oxytocin in human organism, based on summaries of studies on oxytocin. The current overall picture of oxytocin’s highly diverse functions is that oxytocin has a coordinating function in human development, acting as a catalyst in social interactions
Vates Apollinis - Die Apollo-Gestalt in der Horaz-Ode Dive, quem proles … (Carm. 4. 6)
This paper has been intended to describe the influence of an archaeological source and a literary source on Horace's ode Dive, quem proles. The author intends to prove that Horace has composed the ode as if he was walking from the portico to the cult statue in the Temple of Apollo on the Palatine. In the second part of the paper the parallel motifs of the second Callimachean Hymn and the Horatian poem, e.g. mimesis, hybris, are analysed
„Ne illis sanguinem nostrum largiantur…“ Zu Text und Interpretation von Sallust, Bell. Cat. 52. 12
In Sallust, bell. Cat. 52. 12, read illis instead of the lame illi and interpret it as standing by itself for the Catilinarians as in several other instances in the speeches made both by Caesar and by Cato. Furthermore, Sallust makes Cato disclose his referring to Caesar also in some anonymously phrased parts of his oration by vocabulary typical of his opponent
Structural and electrical correlation in aluminum nitride thin films grown by plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition as interface insulating layers on silicon carbide (4H-SiC)
(0001) oriented aluminum nitride (AlN) thin films have been grown by plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition (PE-ALD) on silicon carbide (4H-SiC) substrates. During different PE-ALD processes, the ammonia (NH3) plasma pulsing time has been varied and its effect on the microstructure and on the orientation degree of the AlN layers has been monitored. Structural characterization by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) showed that the crystalline structure of the deposited films was strongly dependent on the NH3-plasma pulsing, so that different polymorphic structures were observed. In particular, both processes resulted in wurtzite AlN structure for few nanometers at the interface with the 4H-SiC substrate, while upon increasing thickness a poly-crystalline wurtzite phase was obtained by short-pulse NH3-plasma, whereas longer plasma exposure resulted in a mixture of wurtzite and zincblende defective phases. Phase formation mechanism were discussed and electrical nanoscopic characterization by conductive atomic force microscopy showed a clear correlation between the different AlN crystalline phases and the insulating properties
The Christian Interpretation of the Concepts of Labour and Social Progress in the Works of Ottokár Prohászka
The paper analyses the views of Ottokár Prohászka, the greatest Hungarian Catholic philosopher of the 20th century on the relationship between labour and social progress, as well as between labour and individual development. The work of Prohászka is seen as a synthesis of modern scientific findings and the Christian world view, which, at the same time, offered a thorough analysis and criticism of the social philosophy of Karl Marx. The author discusses Prohászka's ideas concerning the links between the objective tendencies of social development and the evangelical spirit, and his attempts to elaborate an early version of the theology of labour. Comparing citations, Prohászka's work is valued also for anticipating the ideas in the social encyclics of the popes written several decades later
Efficacy of exogenous glycine betaine application on sorghum plants grown under salinity stress
A pot experiment was conducted to evaluate the beneficial effect of glycine betaine application on salinity tolerance of sorghum plants subjected to two salinity levels (125 and 250 mM) for 18 days. Salinity greatly reduced sorghum growth and this effect was more pronounced at 250 mM than at 125 mM NaCl. Foliar application of glycine betaine at 75 mM mitigated to some extent the adverse effects of salinity on sorghum growth. The measured osmotic pressure and solutes concentration (Na, K, Ca, Mg, QACs, total soluble sugar and betaine) increased while K/Na ratio decreased in sorghum sap with increasing salinity level. The major contributors to the measured osmotic pressure were found to be soluble sugars and K, however, this effect decreased with increasing salinity level while that of Na, proline and betaine increased. The obtained results clearly showed that betaine application reduced proline accumulation in sorghum sap under salinity treatments. It was appeared that the expanding leaf had more osmolality, K, sugars, proline and betaine concentrations than the fully expanded leaf. Conversely, Na, Ca and Mg concentrations were higher in the fully expanded leaf than the expanding leaf. Total N concentration increased, while that of C decreased with increasing salinity level. Hydrogen concentration slightly affected by salinity treatments. Stomatal conductance was markedly reduced with increasing salinity level; the main effect of foliar application of glycine betaine was not significant for this criterion
