Putting Privacy Into Practice: Embedding a Privacy Review into Digital Library Workflows
https://kent-islandora.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/node/18372/88457-thumbnail.jpgChapter 5 in Practicing Privacy Literacy in Academic Libraries
Digital librarians and digital archivists often encounter aspects of privacy through- out digitization projects, though only recently have more specific practical guide- lines and parameters for this kind of work been discussed for practitioners to apply locally. This chapter addresses how to outline and integrate a privacy review into existing digital library workflows. Additionally, creating a culture and awareness of privacy is crucial in the effort to incorporate privacy review into practice by committing to consistently address privacy in digital library production workflows as a regular process. The chapter offers some working definitions of private data and information and provides suggestions to integrate a privacy review into existing digital content production workflows.</p
