Introduction: In the current context of the Argentine health system, access to medical residencies was an issue of growing concern for medical students. Faced with job insecurity, excessive working hours and low salaries, this study analyzed the perceptions, motivations and professional alternatives considered by students in the last year of their degree, with the aim of understanding what factors influenced their decision to choose —or not— this training path. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out during the months of August and September 2024. One hundred and one sixth-year students from public and private universities in CABA, who resided in CABA or AMBA, participated. Data collection was carried out by means of an anonymous, self-administered and voluntary survey, distributed by digital means. Variables such as type of university, job preferences, perception of the system and future expectations were included. Results: 36.6% of those surveyed said they did not wish to undertake a medical residency. The main reasons given were low pay, poor quality of life and the demanding workload. More than 55% expressed an interest in working abroad or in private practice. The most desired specialties did not always coincide with those offering the most vacancies, reflecting a disconnect between aspirations and reality. Conclusions: The study revealed a generational change in the way medical training is perceived. Future doctors prioritized personal well-being, mental health and better economic conditions over the traditional path of residency.

Problem-solving ability is a crucial skill for postgraduate students, playing a vital role in research success, particularly in designing, conducting, and evaluating research. However, many students encounter difficulties during the process, such as determining a viable research topic, selecting suitable methods, and accurately interpreting data. The problem-solving behaviors that students exhibit could potentially influence their level of research skills within the Research Skill Development (RSD) framework, which offers six key aspects for developing research skills. This study aimed to explore the relationship between graduate students\u27 problem-solving behaviours and their research skills based on the RSD framework. The study involved eight students from two universities in Malaysia and Indonesia. Data were collected through problem-solving tests and semi-structured interviews. The RSD framework was used to assess the students\u27 level of research skills, which included aspects such as planning, conducting, and evaluating research. Analysis was conducted to identify patterns of problem-solving behaviours associated with the level of RSD. The results showed that students with more sophisticated problem-solving behaviours achieved higher levels of research skills in the RSD framework. Recommendations are provided for the development of more effective programmes so that students can be better prepared to face challenges in the academic and professional world.

Gender and age are critical factors in understanding attitudes toward artificial intelligence (AI) in education, yet limited research has directly explored their influence on teacher aspirants’ perspectives on AI integration. This study employed random sampling to select 603 respondents from two state-managed institutions. Findings indicate that prospective teachers generally hold neutral attitudes toward AI (M=2.84), reflecting uncertainty about preferring AI over human interaction in routine tasks, consistent with prior research. Male respondents (M=2.91) exhibited significantly more positive attitudes toward AI in education than females, as evidenced by a t value of -2.66 and a p value of 0.008. Additionally, adults (M=2.86) demonstrated significantly higher attitude scores than adolescents (M=2.80), with a t value of -2.05 and a p value of 0.040. These results highlight the role of demographic variables in shaping perceptions of AI in educational contexts, emphasizing the need for targeted interventions to address concerns and optimize AI adoption in teacher training programs
