    No full text
Introduction and aim. Pain is a common symptom in children. Studies indicate that nurses and student nurses lack knowledge about pediatric pain. This study was designed to determine the level of knowledge of pediatric pain management for nursing students and to evaluate the effectiveness of the web-based pediatric pain management education (PPME) program. Material and methods. This study used a pre/post-test quasi-experimental design before/after the test. It was carried out with 84 pediatric nursing internship students (39 control, 45 intervention) in a nursing school. The control group received routine training, and the intervention group received web-based modules. Data were collected using the questionnaire developed by the researchers and evaluated using the paired sample t-test, independent samples t-test, Spearman’s correlation and regression analysis. A structural equation model (SEM) was used. Results. The level of knowledge of the intervention group was significantly higher than that of the control group in terms of the total score and sub-dimension scores of awareness, physiopathology and ‘control’ (p0.05). A moderate, positive and significant correlation was observed between PPME and knowledge levels. Web-based education accounted for 56.6% of the increase in knowledge level, resulting in an improvement of 11.062 points. A notable positive correlation was observed between PPME and control scores in SEM. Conclusion. The conclusion drawn is that the web-based PPME effectively increased student knowledge scores. © 2025 Publishing Office of the University of Rzeszow. All rights reserved

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a bone marrow disorder originating from abnormalities in hematopoietic stem cells caused by genetic mutations in blood cell precursors. These mutations result in the uncontrolled growth of malignant clonal myeloid stem cells. While extramedullary manifestations like myeloid sarcomas and leukemia cutis may occur, the primary concern remains the disruptions in hematologic cell production. Although, complete remission rate is high in elderly patience, there is a significant amount of patience relapce within 3 years. To overcome this problem, new targets needs to be find. In this thesis, PSMB8 was taken our attention with higher expression levels in AML patience with lower survival rate compared to those who have lower expression rate. PSMB8 crystal structure taken from PDB (6E5B) and ligand molecules taken from ZINC15 database by filtering 'for sale', 'named' and 'in trial'. In silico screening done by using PyRx. Ligands which has binding energy lower than -9.00 kcal/mol was utilized for ADMET analysis. The ligands, Adozelesin, Fiduxosin and Omipalisib was selected for Molecular dynamics analysis. Gromacs 2021.2 was used for MD analysis. MD analysis revealed all three drugs might have been using for PSMB8 targetting. In the next step, investigation of cytotoxicity of Omipalisib compared to ONX-0914, which is a inhibitor of PSMB8 on HL60 cell lines. This study revealed that potential target for Acute Myeloid Leukemia and potential drug can be used for targetted therapy. PSMB8'in kristal yapısı PDB'den (6E5B), ligand molekülleri ise ZINC15 veritabanından 'for sale', 'named' ve 'in trial' filtreleri kullanılarak alınmıştır. PyRx kullanılarak in silico tarama yapılmıştır.

    No full text
Objectives: The primary objective of this study was to assess and compare the response to the breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) treatment with Breast Cancer-Related Lymphedema of the Upper Extremity (CLUE) scores, bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS), and the volume-assessments /measurements. The secondary objective of the study was to investigate whether CLUE played a role in the treatment response and to examine its correlation with the other measures of lymphedema. Patients and methods: Between January 2019 and June 2019, a total of 40 patients (2 males, 38 females; mean age: 57.8±12.5 years; range, 45 to 70 years) who were diagnosed with unilateral Stage 2-3 BCRL and underwent treatment were included. The patients’ upper extremity volumes were assessed and the patients were evaluated with the CLUE score, the Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand Outcome Measure (QuickDASH) score, BIS, and hand grip strength before and after the complete decongestive therapy. Results: Correlation analyses revealed that CLUE total score and BIS values were correlated with the reduction in the volumes (p=0.04 and p0.001, respectively). The CLUE total score was also found to be positively correlated with the BIS values (p0.001). Hand grip strength and QuickDASH scores were not found to be correlated with the changes in the volume and CLUE total scores. Conclusion: The development of a structured clinical assessment such as CLUE provides clinicians for a standardized evaluation for BCRL. The diagnosis of subclinical lymphedema can be detected earlier by using the BIS and CLUE scale and lymphedema comorbidity and treatment costs can be reduced. © 2025 Turkish Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. No full text
Tut, Hasan/0009-0004-2677-8926BackgroundPay-for-performance system (P4P) has been in operation in the Turkish healthcare sector since 2004. While the government defended that it encouraged healthcare professionals' job motivation, and improved patient satisfaction by increasing efficiency and service quality, healthcare professionals have emphasized the system's negative effects on working conditions, physicians' trustworthiness, and cost-quality outcomes. In this study, we investigated physicians' accounts of current working conditions, their status as a moral agent, and their professional attitudes in the context of P4P's perceived effects on their professional, social, private, and future lives.MethodsFirst, we held 3 focus groups with 19 residents and 1 specialist regarding their lived experiences under P4P and thematically analyzed the transcripts. Second, we developed a questionnaire to assess how generalizable the qualitative findings are for a broader group of physicians. The tool has three parts questioning 1) demographic information, 2) working conditions, and 3) perceived consequences and effects of P4P. 2136 physicians responded to the survey. After refining the data, we conducted the statistical analysis over 1378 responses by using Spearman's correlation coefficient, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) for categorical data, and Kruskal-Wallis variance analysis.ResultsThematic analysis revealed two dimensions: 1) factors leading to estrangement, and 2) manifestations of estrangement. As for the initial, participants thought that P4P affected relationships at work; family and social relationships; working conditions; quality of the specialty training; quality of healthcare services; and it caused healthcare system-related consequences. Concerning the latter, the following themes emerged: Estrangement of the physician; damaging effects on physician's psychology; physician's perception of their future life; and physician as a moral agent. According to EFA, a 5-factor structure was appropriate: F1) Estrangement; F2) adverse effects on the physician's quality of life; F3) favorable consequences; F4) physicians becoming disreputable; F5) unfavorable consequences.ConclusionsThe findings suggest that under P4P, physicians have become more estranged towards their profession, their patients, and themselves. They suffer from deteriorating working conditions, lack of motivation, lack of work-related satisfaction, and hopelessness regarding their future. Furthermore, P4P impairs their ability to realize themselves as moral subjects practicing in alignment with professional values and principles

Thermal Image-Based Fault Diagnosis in Induction Machines Via Self-Organized Operational Neural Networks

    No full text
Condition monitoring of induction machines is crucial to prevent costly interruptions and equipment failure. Mechanical faults such as misalignment and rotor issues are among the most common problems encountered in industrial environments. To effectively monitor and detect these faults, a variety of sensors, including accelerometers, current sensors, temperature sensors, and microphones, are employed in the field. As a non-contact alternative, thermal imaging offers a powerful monitoring solution by capturing temperature variations in machines with thermal cameras. In this study, we propose using 2dimensional Self-Organized Operational Neural Networks (SelfONNs) to diagnose misalignment and broken rotor faults from thermal images of squirrel-cage induction motors. We evaluate our approach by benchmarking its performance against widely used Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), including ResNet, EfficientNet, PP-LCNet, SEMNASNet, and MixNet, using a Workswell InfraRed Camera (WIC). Our results demonstrate that Self-ONNs, with their non-linear neurons and self-organizing capability, achieve diagnostic performance comparable to more complex CNN models while utilizing a shallower architecture with just three operational layers. Its streamlined architecture ensures high performance and is well-suited for deployment on edge devices, enabling its use also in more complex multi-function and/or multi-device monitoring systems. © 2025 IEEE

Gokdemir, Ozden/0000-0002-0542-5767Objective: This study aimed to assess the healthy lifestyle behavior of family physicians (FPs) and their engagement in lifestyle medicine practices within their clinical practice. Methods: An online questionnaire was developed to collect responses from FPs between July 2018 and August 2019. A descriptive and correlational design was employed. The questionnaire consisted of two parts: "personal information of participants" and "the Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale-II". The survey was conducted using an e-survey platform, and targeted a convenience sample of FPs from eight countries in a cross-sectional study. Participants were provided with information about the survey length, data storage procedures, duration of storage, the identity of the investigators, and the purpose of the study. Results: The study included 131 FPs, with a higher proportion of male participants. The frequency of smoking was found to be significantly higher among Turkish FPs (p=0.013). However, no statistically significant difference was observed among FPs in terms of the total score on the scale or the scores on the six dimensions. Conclusion: The majority of FPs expressed a desire for further education, suggesting a need to incorporate educational interventions into medical school curricula. Additionally, well-structured web-based massive open online courses could serve a solution to meet the educational needs of FPs in the realm of healthy lifestyle behaviors and lifestyle medicine practices

Psychological studies on close relationships have often overlooked cultural diversity, dynamic processes, and potentially universal principles that shape intimate partnerships. To address the limited generalizability of previous research and advance our understanding of romantic love experiences, mate preferences, and physical attractiveness, we conducted a large-scale cross-cultural survey study on these topics. A total of 404 researchers collected data in 45 languages from April to August 2021, involving 117,293 participants from 175 countries. Aside from standard demographic questions, the survey included valuable information on variables relevant to romantic relationships: intimate, passionate, and committed love within romantic relationships, physical-attractiveness enhancing behaviors, gender equality endorsement, collectivistic attitudes, personal history of pathogenic diseases, relationship quality, jealousy, personal involvement in sexual and/or emotional infidelity, relational mobility, mate preferences, and acceptance of sugar relationships. The resulting dataset provides a rich resource for investigating patterns within, and associations across, a broad range of variables relevant to romantic relationships, with extensive opportunities to analyze individual experiences worldwide. © The Author(s) 2025.Stanislava Stoyanova; Fundacja na rzecz Nauki Polskiej, FNP; Vira Hrabchuk and Anne MacFarlane; Narodowe Centrum Nauki, NCN, (2019/33/N/HS6/00054); Narodowe Centrum Nauki, NCN; Eesti Teadusagentuur, ETAg, (PRG2190); Eesti Teadusagentuur, ETA

    No full text
This study aimed to determine the hopelessness and well-being levels of woman academics during the COVID-19 pandemic. This cross-sectional and analytical study was conducted online between February and May 2022 at the end of the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study was conducted with 341 woman academics from state and foundation universities in T ; uuml;rkiye. The mean score from the Beck Hopelessness Scale was 6.02 +/- 4.84, and the mean score from the Flourishing Scale (FS) was 43.50 +/- 7.24. There was a significant negative correlation between flourishing scores and low, mild, moderate, and high hopelessness scores (p = .038, p .001, p = .001, p = .034, respectively); as participants' level of hopelessness increases, their FS scores decrease significantly (r: -.689, p .001). Revealing the effects of changes in the routine and academic activities of woman academics on hopelessness and well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic process has the potential to reduce possible risks that may develop in pandemics, and contribute to reducing the hopelessness levels and increasing well-being of woman academics

PurposeThis study aims to examine the extent to which companies internalize, adopt and communicate the issue of sustainability. With this aim, research questions address companies' approaches to sustainable development goals (SDGs), the extent to which the concept of sustainability is reflected in the goals, vision, mission and values of the organizations and the interrelationship between corporate identities, SDGs, sustainability projects and communication activities of the companies.Design/methodology/approachContent analysis is employed on the sustainability reports, websites, social media accounts, media releases and news of the corporations listed in BIST Sustainability Index (2020) in T ; uuml;rkiye. The typology of sustainability communication processes (Newig et al., 2013) is utilized for data analysis to reveal an overall picture of the companies' approach to sustainability communication.FindingsResearch findings demonstrated that only 11 companies internalize, adopt and communicate the issue of sustainability. A total of 32 companies make no mention of sustainability in their vision, mission, purpose or values. It is observed that few companies establish their entire communication on sustainability strategy. Although some of the companies' purpose of existence is sustainability, and they manage valuable projects, their approach to communication is still tactical. The study reveals that most of the companies take a tactical approach to sustainability and fewer adopt strategic actions and communications.Originality/valueIn T ; uuml;rkiye, research on sustainability involves either optimistic evaluations of governmental organizations or limited case studies on specific SDGs, particular sectors or social media analyses. This research exposes the holistic picture of sustainability and communication among the companies listed in the BIST Sustainability Index. The results of the holistic approach suggest that organizations should improve their communication about sustainability and communication for sustainability to activate their publics

    No full text
Altera; EPRA Energy; et al.; IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES); IPEM Technologies; OPAL-RT TechnologiesThis paper proposes a Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO)-based reinforcement learning approach to solve overvoltage problem in power distribution networks. The approach aims to minimize the voltage deviations and to keep voltage magnitudes in the allowed ranges. The numerical simulations are performed on a modified unbalanced 123 node network. The modified test system includes a total number of 34 single phase Photovoltaics (200 kVA) connected to three phases. We modified the base case load profile based on real-world daily variations obtained from EPIAS. The PV generation profile was modeled according to a typical sunny day. Using OpenDSS and Python, we implemented PPO-based RL to optimize the setpoints of smart inverters and voltage regulators. The model was trained with load and solar profiles at 09:00, 12:00, and 16:00 to derive optimal voltage regulation strategies for these time points. From the simulation results, we observed that the proposed PPO-based RL approach significantly reduces voltage deviations across all phases, which may help efficient operation of the distribution networks. © 2025 IEEE
