Insertion of Nitriles Into a Gold(III)/Carbene Bond: A Direct and Powerful Entry to Imino‐Substituted Carbenes

International audienceStrikingly, very little is known so far about reactive gold(III) carbenes. They have been proposed as key intermediates in a few reactions but remain chemical curiosities. Taking into account the enhanced electrophilicity of cationic Au(III) carbene complexes, we were intrigued by their reactivity with nitriles. Thus, we discovered a simple and efficient entry to imino‐substituted carbenes. The transient (N^C^C)Au(III)←:CH(dmp) + carbene readily reacts with acetonitrile, benzonitrile, and diisopropyl cyanamide, affording stable and isolable Au(III) carbene complexes. Here, the imino group acts either as a strongly π‐donating or a spectator substituent. Ligand exchange at Au(III) or protodeauration/deprotonation provides access to the corresponding free species, which display dual imino‐carbene / nitrile‐ylide reactivity, as substantiated by stoichiometric and catalytic dimerization, O─H insertion and [3 + 2] cycloaddition reactions

De l’ignorance du droit au droit de l’ignorance ?

International audienceThis article aims to understand the variations in the use of the term ignorance in Law over time, using an extensively broad corpus and in a comparative perspective. By listing all references to this term in a corpus of law stretching from the sixteenth to the twenty-first centuries, it first demonstrates the remarkable permanence of this term over time. Variations in the use of the term ignorance are then analysed diachronically in terms of lexical fields and semantic dispersion. Uses of the term ignorance over time in legal texts provide information on the evolution of how ignorance is used as a legal object (as it applies to increasingly diverse situations), as well as its nature of polysemic legal notion. Therefore, the study shows the legal field’s evolution through the example of ignorance.Cet article à visée exploratoire cherche à comprendre les variations de l’utilisation du terme d’ignorance dans le droit au cours du temps, avec un corpus très large et dans une perspective comparatiste. En répertoriant toutes les mentions de ce terme dans un corpus juridique s’étendant du xvie au xxie siècles, il démontre tout d’abord la remarquable permanence de ce terme au cours du temps. Les variations de l’usage du terme ignorance sont ensuite analysées en termes de champs lexicaux et d’espace de dispersion sémantique, diachroniquement. On constate alors que les usages du terme ignorance dans les textes juridiques au fil du temps renseignent tout aussi bien sur l’évolution des conceptions de l’ignorance en tant qu’objet saisi par le droit (le terme s’appliquant à des situations de plus en plus variées) qu’en tant que notion juridique polysémique. Ainsi, cette étude permet d’appréhender l’évolution du champ juridique par le prisme de cette notion
