Wealth Distribution and Social Justice in Islamic Economic Law: Normative Principles and Their Implications for Inclusive Development

    No full text
Global wealth inequality remains a persistent challenge that undermines social justice and inclusive development. Conventional economic systems have struggled to address structural disparities, leading to wealth concentration and social exclusion. This study examines wealth distribution and social justice from the perspective of Islamic economic law, focusing on its normative principles and their implications for inclusive development. Using a qualitative library-based research design grounded in normative legal analysis, this study analyzes primary Islamic legal sources, namely the Qur’an and Hadith, alongside classical and contemporary Islamic legal scholarship. Empirical socio-economic data from international institutions are employed as contextual references to assess the modern relevance of Islamic legal principles. The findings reveal that Islamic economic law conceptualizes wealth not as an absolute individual right but as a trust (amānah) bound by social responsibility. Normative principles such as justice (al-ʿadl), balance (al-mīzān), and social solidarity are institutionalized through legally structured redistributive instruments, including zakat, infaq, ṣadaqah, and waqf, as well as prohibitions against usury and monopolistic practices. These instruments operate through both curative mechanisms that alleviate immediate poverty and preventive mechanisms that restrain excessive wealth concentration. As a result, Islamic economic law provides a multi-layered distributive framework that links social justice with inclusive development. The study concludes that Islamic economic law offers a coherent normative and legal framework capable of addressing structural inequality while promoting inclusive growth. When supported by effective governance and policy integration, its redistributive instruments have significant potential to reduce poverty, foster social cohesion, and promote sustainable development in contemporary societies

Reformulation of Joint Marital Property Regimes for the Protection of Female Migrant Workers: Empirical Evidence from Malang Regency

    No full text
This article examines the reformulation of joint marital property regimes to enhance legal protection for female migrant workers in Indonesia, particularly in divorce cases in which women are the primary breadwinners. The issue arises from Article 35 of the Indonesian Marriage Law, which grants equal entitlement to husbands over joint property, even when assets are largely generated through women’s overseas employment. Using an empirical juridical method with a descriptive-critical approach, this study analyzes legal norms and their implementation, with a focus on Malang Regency due to its high number of female migrant workers. The findings indicate that equal division of joint property fails to reflect substantive justice and gender equality, often disadvantaging women by requiring them to share earnings with husbands who lack proportional economic contribution. This gap highlights a disconnect between legal norms and social realities. Accordingly, the study recommends an optional application of Article 35, contribution-based property distribution, and enhanced legal awareness by Religious Affairs Offices to ensure substantive justice and effective protection for female migrant workers

    No full text
Previous studies on the management of zakat and waqf in Indonesia tend to use an objective perspective and do not accommodate subjective perspectives. This study aims to complement the shortcomings of previous studies by analyzing the problems faced in the management of zakat and cash waqf in Indonesia from a subjective perspective, namely by involving a society with their culture. In line with that, two questions are formulated: First, how is the implementation of zakat and cash waqf management in Indonesia? And second, what are the problems faced in the implementation of zakat and cash waqf management in Indonesia? This study is field research with a qualitative-subjective approach. From the results of the study found two answers to the problem formulation. First, the management of zakat and cash waqf in Indonesia is quite adequate in terms of zakat and cash waqf regulations. However, in terms of achieving philanthropy from the community, it is not optimal. Second, the main obstacles in zakat management in Indonesia are the lack of management effectiveness, the lack of human resources (HR), and the still low level of awareness of muzakki. And the main obstacles in the management of cash waqf are three things, namely: weak literacy, weak trust and limited number of fundraisers spread throughout Indonesia

The Effectiveness of Group Counseling Services Using Self-Management Techniques on Students’ Learning Time Management. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group guidance services with self-management techniques on student study time management at Sanggar Bimbingan Kepong Malaysia. The population of this study was 6 sixth-grade students, and the sample was taken purposively. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The pre-test results showed that out of 6 students, 3 students were in the low category and 3 students were in the medium category, while the post-test results showed that all students were in the very high category. The treatment was given in one meeting. Hypothesis testing using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with the help of SPSS produced an Asymp. Sig = 0.028 <0.05, so H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, indicating a significant change in student study time management after the treatment. This study contributes to the development of guidance and counseling (BK) science by strengthening evidence that self-management techniques in group guidance can improve students' time management skills, which is one of the important competencies in students' character and academic development. The results of this study provide implications for BK teachers, namely that the use of group guidance services with self-management techniques can be an effective strategy in fostering and improving students' study time management at school. Keywords: Group Guidance, Self Management, Study Time Management, Guidance and Counseling

The Dynamics of Resilience in Adolescent Suicide Attempt Survivors: A Case Study of Meaning in Life and Social Support from Grotberg's Perspective. This study aims to analyze the meaning in life among adolescent suicide attempt survivors, explore the forms of social support they receive, and describe the role of meaning in life and social support in shaping resilience based on Grotberg's theory. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Informants were selected through purposive sampling, consisting of two adolescent suicide attempt survivors as primary informants and a psychologist as a supporting informant. Data collection was conducted over a period of 3 months through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies, which were analyzed using MAXQDA software. The validity of the data in this study was maintained through source triangulation by comparing data from adolescent suicide attempt survivors and supporting informants (psychologists), as well as technique triangulation through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies. To maintain the accuracy of sensitive data, the researcher conducted member checking. The results of the study show that each adolescent suicide attempt survivors has a different experience in interpreting life after suicide attempts. Informants interpret life as a second chance to improve relationships with family, as well as how to find meaning in life through personal goals and the desire to help others based on previous experiences. The social support received is also diverse, ranging from emotional support from family, acceptance from peers, and community. These experiences strengthen the aspects of I Have, I Am, and I Can. These findings can be used as a basis for counselors in designing resilience-based preventive and curative guidance and counseling services for adolescents. Keywords: Meaning in Life, Social Support, Resilience, Grotberg's Theory. Islamic Political Narratives in the Digital Era: A Comparative Analysis of Malaysian and Indonesian Islamic Parties

    No full text
This study explores the political narratives and representations of leadership by Islamic parties in two Muslim-majority countries, Malaysia and Indonesia, focusing on Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) and Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS). Many studies on digital political communication and Islamic parties examine campaign effectiveness, thematic content, or leadership as represented through physical presence. However, there remains a gap in understanding how digital political narratives function as a medium to represent leadership in digital spaces or on the party’s official website. This research employs qualitative content analysis along with in-depth interviews. This combination of methods provides a comprehensive understanding of perspectives and insights. Data were collected three months before the general elections in each country, focusing on each party’s website. The study also interviewed 7 student leaders from each country, for a total of 14 participants. The results show that PAS and PKS effectively use their official websites to strengthen their content image and highlight issues across social, political, economic, and religious themes. Student leaders’ views further indicate that digital content plays a crucial role in shaping public perceptions of party leadership and its influence during elections. This research also contributes theoretically by integrating agenda-setting theory and transformational leadership as strategic analytical approaches in political communication in the digital era

Dealing With Radical Islamic Movements and Their Militias: The Policies of Peaceful Cultural Coexistence in Surakarta During 2014–2024

    No full text
This study aims to depict the policies of peaceful cultural coexistence implemented by the Surakarta city government over the past decade. The research addresses two main questions: (1) What regulations have been formulated by the Surakarta city government to promote cultural coexistence? (2) How has the city government enforced the regulations to ensure cultural coexistence within Surakarta society? Data were collected by examining primary and secondary sources and analyzed using the cultural coexistence theory developed by Fredrik Barth, which identifies three main elements forming peaceful cultural coexistence: adaptability, pluralism, and equity, or the fair fulfillment of basic rights. The findings show that the Surakarta city government has attempted to establish fair and inclusive regulations. However, a significant shortcoming lies in the enforcement of these regulations, particularly against radical Islamic groups that refuse to adapt and respect pluralism.  Consequently, it is essential to encourage government authorities to adopt a more assertive law-enforcement approach, ensuring that all individuals learn together, adhere to regulations, and respect differences among the various groups in society

    No full text
This study examines the relationship between the thought of Nashr Hamid Abu Zaid and the ideology of Khawarij, focusing on the analysis of the concept of "Mafhum al-Nashsh".  As a progressive Muslim thinker, Abu Zaid offers a critical approach to textual understanding in Islam that emphasizes the importance of context and dynamic interpretation. On the other hand, Khawarij is known for its literal and radical approach to religious texts.  By analyzing Abu Zaid's works, this article identifies the intersection and the fundamental differences between Abu Zaid's critical approach and the Khawarij's textual views.  This study examines Abu Zaid's response to the Khawarij ideology and assesses the implications of this relationship for contemporary Islamic understanding and efforts to counter religious extremism.  The research results are expected to make a significant contribution to understanding the dialectic between progressive and literal thought in Islamic discourse.

The Scientific Approach to Cultivating Scientific Attitudes in Early Childhood

    No full text
This study examines how the scientific approach is implemented in early childhood education under resource constraints. Using a qualitative case study design, data were gathered from educators at ten institutions over three months (January–March 2024) through interviews, classroom and outdoor observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman framework. Findings show that while teachers possess a reasonable conceptual grasp of the scientific approach, enactment is inconsistent. Institutions lack dedicated laboratory spaces and rely largely on simple, introductory activities; however, natural settings such as school gardens and spacious grounds are leveraged to sustain observation- and inquiry-based learning. Teachers commonly use big books as primary materials, with infrequent use of online resources due to limited facilities. Curricular goals referencing critical thinking and problem solving are not consistently realized in practice; teacher-led questioning predominates, interdisciplinary integration is minimal, and assessment relies heavily on products rather than projects or presentations. Time structures (3–4 hour daily schedules) and significant budget limitations further restrict routine experimentation and exploration, as well as opportunities for sustained professional development. Notwithstanding these constraints, educators creatively employ natural and recycled materials and selectively integrate digital media. The study concludes that maximizing the potential of the scientific approach requires coordinated support—adequate funding, flexible scheduling, enriched learning environments, and structured, ongoing teacher professional development through collaboration among government, educational institutions, and external partners
