Study of human behavior in the waterside space in urban area Focus on the Motomachi Bank of the Ota River
application/pdfThe Motomachi Environmental Embankment is located upstream from Karasaya Bridge in the Motomachi district on the left bank of the old Ota River, and was completed in 1983. It is characterized by the poplar trees that stand on the embankment. It is a highly hydrophilic, open space with a beautiful view, and is loved by local residents as a place to relax and also used as a venue for holding
events.

This paper presents experimental approaches for learning about steel structures, focusing on experiments related to flexural buckling, local buckling, and lateral-torsional buckling, as well as themes that track the behavior of elastoplastic steel materials. A study on slip-load subjected to cyclic loading of large displacement
application/pdfThe authors propose a rotational mechanism, referred to as a Beam-Joint-Plastic-Hinge, utilizing the sliding behavior of a high-strength bolt friction joint shown in Figure 1, aiming to improve
the accuracy of plastic hinge evaluation. Beam- Joint-Plastic-Hinge results in repeated large sliding displacements during repetitive joint plastic rotations.
As shown in Figure 2, the contact between solid bodies, including the base material and the splice plate, is established by the contact of tiny surface asperities(hereafter referred to as "true contact"). In high-strength bolt friction joints, contact pressure acts on the true contact area, and
relative displacement between the base material and splice plate occurs as surface asperities are destroyed(sliding behavior). In cases of repeated large displacements, achieving a stable sliding load
with small variations(refer to Figure 2)could simplify the bending strength of Beam-Joint-Plastic- Hinge, leading to an expected improvement in evaluation accuracy.
Therefore, to track the conditions for achieving a stable sliding load, sliding element experiments were conducted using frictionally joined steel plates. Measurements of the Meissner Effect in Superconducting Niobium and Lead Using the AC Complex Susceptibility Technique
application/pdfTo improve our measurement system for detecting the Meissner effect, we designed a sample holder made of oxygen-free copper. The Meissner effect of Nb and Pb was confirmed, with Tc values showing good agreement with the nominal values in both cases. When the sweep rate was 0.1 K/min, it was possible to measure the Meissner effect with sufficient accuracy during both heating and cooling processes. Thus, a measurement system for studying the magnetic properties of various superconducting samples has been successfully established in our group.departmental bulletin pape
Fabricating IoT devices using Sigfox and processing data
application/pdfWe are developing a system that uses Sigfox to measure the environmental data of living spaces, such as temperature, humidity, air pressure, and carbon dioxide concentration, 140 times a day. Furthermore, we designed and manufactured a printed circuit board to integrate the sensor with an Arduino processor. In this study, we applied the system we have developed so far to agriculture. Comparison of local structure of amorphous tobermorite based on empirical and non-empirical molecular dynamics simulations
application/pdfThe local structures of amorphous tobermorite are studied using both classical and ab initio molecular dynamics(MD)simulations. The density obtained from the classical MD simulations is lower than that from the ab initio MD simulations. In the ab initio MD simulations, a higher numberof SiO4 tetrahedra is observed compared to the amorphous structure obtained from classical MD. Additionally, network structures consisting of SiO4 tetrahedra are observed. Furthermore, the Ca-O correlations resemble those found in the crystalline state. These features imply that the layered structure of crystalline tobermorite is partially retained in amorphous tobermorite.departmental bulletin pape
EdTech Trends and Prospects at the BETT Asia2024 Conference
application/pdfThis year’s BETT Asia 2024 returned to Malaysia after two years. The Leadership Summit featured more topics overall, with 13 focused on AI. Like Japan, other Asian countries shared similar expectations and challenges regarding generative AI in education, with high interest in literacy education and self-organized learning. The exhibition had 45 displays, three fewer than last year. South Korean companies continued to participate in STEAM and programming education, with one exhibitor from Greece and Singapore. A new Danish exhibitor showcased a product that converts robot control programs between block programming and Python. Many learning data management
systems with enhanced dashboard functions for assessment were also displayed. Overall, while AI was a prominent topic, few products specifically utilized AI, focusing mainly on learning data analysis and language learning. フランスの高等学校 生命と地球の化学(SVT)について ~高等学校1 年の特徴的な内容に焦点を当てて~
application/pdfフランスの高等学校の教科「生命と地球の科学」(SVT)の内容に着目し,学習指導要領から3 か年の特徴を描き出し,特に必修となる高校1 年で扱われている内容について,教科書での扱いも踏まえて特徴を描き,
示唆を引き出した。特徴として, 3 か年を貫いて中学校と同様の3 つの大単元から構成されているものの,「人体と健康」を除く他の2 単元は,中学校のように生物と地球科学の内容で大単元が分かれておらず,現代的な課題を捉える視点から両者が統合され混在配置となっていた。必修の高校1 年では,扱い割合が少ないながらも地球科学の内容が取り上げられ,生命科学と地球科学の視点から土壌を捉え,農業を扱っていた。さらに,保健に相当する教科・科目が存在しないため,性教育,微生物,感染症などの内容が科学的な記述で取り扱われていた。SVT という教科が生命科学と地球科学を包括しており,その扱い割合を変えることで,日本では選択制により扱われなくなる内容も対応できていた。さらには領域をまたがる現代的な課題への対応ができていたことも,科学的な基礎的な記述を担う教科理科の科目の括り方のありようの示唆とした。departmental bulletin pape
